At Changying, we offer dedicated Chinese and English learning tracks using the Chinese National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).
In Grades K-2, approximately 70% of the curriculum and time is taught in Chinese and devoted to the Chinese National Curriculum. In Grades 3-6, 50% of the curriculum and time is taught in Chinese and is devoted to the Chinese National Curriculum. This involves a strong focus on Chinese Language and Mathematics as well as specialist instruction and classes (taught in Chinese) in Music, Art, Dance and PE.
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) gives us a framework to structure and deliver an engaging, inquiry-focused learning programme with an integrated, thematic approach to learning. It supports rigorous, differentiated learning that is active and exciting for children. Learning with the IPC takes a global approach; helping children to connect to where they are living now as well as looking at the learning from the perspective of other people in other countries.
In addition to the IPC, Changying uses an individually designed English curriculum that has been tailored to the learning needs of our students with a focus on Reading, Writing, Talking and Listening and modelled on the national curriculum of Scotland.
